About Allison

With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor, along with a Master’s of Social Work from NYU, Allison Devlin leads Serenium, a mental health therapy and wellness company headquartered in New Jersey, as its Clinical Director with over 100+ licensed mental health professionals and nurse practitioners. Her career spans across a variety of settings, including outpatient and inpatient mental health and substance abuse facilities, mobile crisis units, emergency rooms, detoxification units, and elder abuse organizations. She incorporates a range of evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing for substance abuse, to support clients in exploring ambivalence and strengthening their commitment to recovery. Prior to this, her family was instrumental in establishing one of the first three Therapeutic Communities for addiction in New York as well as the first in Canada. Her passions lie in healing and recovery and she believes that therapy is a way to navigate feelings to add clarity, by breaking things down, step by step. Stressful events can often feel overwhelming and confusing, but she believes therapy truly helps to lighten the load for all of life’s events.
