FAQ

Common questions

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?

IFS is a model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz that views the mind as made up of distinct 'parts' — each with its own role, feelings, and perspective. Some parts try to protect you, sometimes in ways that cause problems. The goal of IFS is to help your core Self lead, so parts can relax from their extreme roles. It's gentle, non-pathologizing, and widely used for trauma and emotional healing.

Is IFS evidence-based?

Yes. IFS has growing research support and is listed in SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs. It's used for trauma, depression, anxiety, eating concerns, and relationship difficulties. It works well as a standalone approach or combined with other modalities.

How soon can I start?

Every therapist shown is currently accepting new clients and most reply to appointment requests within one business day.
